Great personalities emerge in human history and mark their time. Others bring the ability to revolutionize the world and future generations.
I have always preferred disruptive leaders, probably because of my past in the creative industry and my ongoing passion for Innovation. The ability to bring change to life and make it happen is distinctive and requires a lot of conviction, "pure stubbornness" and initiative (action).
In Musk's projects, we have seen many reports of predictable failures or near-bankruptcies. And he has had many disappointments, for sure. Let us look at his "LEFTOVERS": PayPal, Tesla, Space X, and most recently Twitter.
What do these cases have in common besides their success? They are all disruptive; they have revolutionized their respective industries and opened the doors to new players. They are leading projects.
For instance,
Banking had to face a young, irreverent start-up without much importance. Today, PayPal is an undisputed player in online payment methods and beyond.
The powerful automobile industry did not break free of its carbon dependency and kept postponing the adoption of cleaner energies. Today, it is running behind the Tesla phenomenon.
The sacred space race, previously the exclusive preserve of state-owned public corporations, with gigantic structures and budgets, now has the novelty of doing much more with much less, thanks to Space X (if you have not seen "Return to Space" on Netflix, please do).
I am curious to see what will happen with Twitter. And get ready for the pharmaceutical industry, because Elon is willing to confront it sooner than later (psychedelics).

In any case, he has relentlessly challenged the status quo, the giants of major industries, and moved the world forward. It's common for disruptors to emerge from one sector. From more than one, it's rare. And it's a generational privilege to witness it.
When a leader makes sure the names of all 4,000 employees are on the walls of the rocket ship, there's something magnificent about inclusion and sharing the legacy.

Innovation is one of the drivers of Leadership Design developed by mylle. The realm of the "impossible is nothing". It is a domain where organizations can create an impact that leaves a mark (Legacy) and change society.
We have found that it has been a challenge for leaders to adopt the right mindset to cultivate Innovation in the most appropriate way. The pandemic has forced many to evolve, even to survive economically. The digital evolution of many businesses was undoubtedly due to a global emergency.
We have already dealt with cases where the growth generated by the innovation role of leadership creates discomfort in the organization, which has difficulty keeping up with and sustaining the demands and speed.
We have already seen cases where leadership is reluctant to embrace innovation as a critical success factor because the pace of contextual evolution is much stronger than its transformational capacity.
For both cases, we advise the most traditional form of leadership: delegation. To those who are more skeptical and hesitant, delegate the responsibility for Innovation and its promotion to a challenging spirit, someone with the right profile. Find and encourage them.
This is a tribute from mylle to an inspirational leadership profile that best illustrates that Legacy is present in life's path and not only on the finish line. mylle is our acronym for My Leadership, My Legacy. We believe that the best leadership comes with a strong awareness and motivation for legacy.
What about you? Have you done anything positively disruptive lately?
